A Classic Country House Summer Wedding

May I introduce Sarah and Charlie, both insurance brokers? They first met at the office and wed on 25 August inside a church service and marquee reception at a 16th-century Tudor manor house, near Chelmsford, Essex. Rather than selecting a specific theme, the pair chose elements and colors which attracted their taste, leading to this romantic and classically beautiful celebration.

Sarah visited her local bridal boutique, in Ingatestone, where she chose her gown. I love the mixture of its graceful, double-layered skirt in silk chiffon and hand-embellished, open-backed bodice which packs in a lot of exquisite detail.

“The minute I use it I knew. It is lovely and soft and flowing and also the detail was gorgeous. I also loved the cut from the dress. I didn’t wish to wear something which wasn’t my style because I knew I wouldn’t feel at ease but I felt like myself within this dress completely. I love it!”

After meeting at the office, Charlie proposed to Sarah on vacation in Sardinia and was engaged for 17 months before their summer celebration.

“We met when I went to have an interview in the place where Charlie worked. We were brought to each other because he would be around the team I could be working for and that we both smiled at one another. Afterward, Charlie kept asking around to determine if I’d got the task and when I was starting!”

The two bridesmaids chose chic pink bridesmaid dresses and wore shoes. In contrast, the small Flowergirl was inside a pure white gown.

“We clipped real roses into the side of the hair and I bought them both a sparkly bracelet.”

The classic train from the gown was complemented with a pure white veil.

“I opted for any long chiffon veil that was the same as the underside layering from the dress also it blended in lovely.”

Charlie looks so suave in the deep blue, three-piece suit, that they accessorized by having a tie and cufflinks. He was waiting in the cool of the church for Sarah, who arrived together with her father Fred inside a car from.

The light and airy marquee was an ideal backdrop for that summer’s reception, using its classic tone set by their elegant calligraphy stationery.

“We kept everything nice and simple because the venue didn’t need anything extra and we wanted the flowers to become the center of attention. We did, however, have lots of candles which looked lovely because the light dimmed.”

After the wedding cake was cut, the pair took towards the dance floor for their first dance to ‘Can’t Take My Eyes Off You by Andy Williams.

“We love the song. It’s so sweet also it gets everyone within the mood for dancing.”

“Music seemed to be important for us because it brings your entire day together and it is nice to determine everyone up and dancing the night time away.”

Words of Wedded Wisdom

“Take your time and effort and choose carefully. Word of mouth is nice when choosing suppliers however, you have to go together with your instinct just a little as well. If you feel as if you trust them and therefore are confident in them, then your stress will disappear.”

“Try to not overthink – just go together with your style and taste. And try to not listen to anyone else’s opinion–it’s your entire day.”
